Paul and Mary Luvera were married April 7, 1926, by Father Treunet of St. Mary's Church. They had three children, Phyllis Luvera Ennes, Anita Luvera Mayer, and Paul N. Luvera, Jr., who produced 14 grandchildren.
Luvera owned and operated Luvera's Market at the corner of 7th Street and Commercial Avenue for 35 years until his retirement in 1957. He served as a state senator between 1953 and 1957, was president of the Anacortes Rotary Club in 1934 and president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1939. He was honored with awards for 50-year memberships in the Chamber of Commerce and the Masonic Lodge.
Mary Babarovich Luvera enjoyed hooking rugs and cooking and was chairman of a rug hooking group that met locally every week. Luvera was also well-known for his totem pole carvings, which were painted by Mary.
Their Golden Anniversary was celebrated with a champagne pre-dinner gathering and dinner at a local restaurant.
