Paul Luvera, Sr., wrote many letters to editors of several papers in the last ten years of his life.
On April 9, 1980, Luvera sent a letter to the ANACORTES AMERICAN accusing President Carter of having "a big mouth and little stick" in his efforts to rescue the Americans being held hostage at the embassy in Tehran, Iran.
A later letter to the editor was written by L. Halliday suggesting that if Luvera had any ideas other than war, "kindly send your solution of this delicate situation on to the President."
