Scope & Content A railroad trestle across Fidalgo Bay connecting Weaverling Spit and March's Point was built in the summer of 1889. By 2005 the trestle had been converted to a footpath on the eastern end of the Tommy Thompson trail. On October 15, 2009, about 300 feet of the trestle was burned by an arson fire, and the trestle was closed. Anacortes rallied to repair it, and it re-opened in May of 2010. A party was held at the Fidalgo Bay Resort Clubhouse on Thursday, June 17, 2010, to celebrate the occasion; free food, beverages, and live music were provided.
