Scope & Content Mary Ann Ringwall Funk was born October 28, 1926, in North Dakota to Hjalmer and Rose Ringwall. At the time of her marriage to Wallie, Mary Ann's parents lived in Columbus, North Dakota. She came to Anacortes to teach at Anacortes High School in 1951 and Wallie met her at the High School when he was there chasing down a story one day. She married Wallie Funk in Seattle at the Winter Chapel in St. James Cathedral on June 25, 1954. Following their wedding they lived at 1213 - 12th Street in Anacortes, WA.

During her adult life she was active as a Skagit Valley College Trustee, a teacher at Anacortes High School, a women's rights advocate, and a "special woman with strong spirit and deep convictions" according to comments gleaned from her Celebration of Life program.

She passed away October 10, 2008. Her memorial program includes five pages of photos.
