THE SEATTLE TIMES ran a photo article titled "Birth of a Statue"
on Sunday, October 25, 1959. The eight photos document the process of turning a plaster cast into a final concrete finished product. Philip McCracken created the plaster cast which was cast in concrete by Olympian Cast Stone Company of Ballard. The sculpture, "Restless Bird", was placed on the plaza of the Norton Building in Seattle.
