Scope & Content Green Scrapbook compiled by Don Hardenbrook who was the Chairman of the Steering Committee, formed for the sole purpose of building a swimming pool in Anacortes.

Pertinent articles and pictures, including news articles, town meeting records, city council meeting records, action plans, and an official voting ballot, documenting the efforts to build the community pool, represent the time from the formation of the committee to the successful election that formed the Anacortes Parks and Recreation District and the election of the first commissioners.

The Parks and Recreation District was created for the sole purpose of building the swimming pool that the city of Anacortes still enjoys. Fidalgo Pool and Fitness Center is located at 1603 - 22nd Avenue.

The scrapbook covers the time frame of November 18, 1971 through May 25, 1972.
