This December 31, 1934, news article is from a Seattle newspaper. "Captain Fred Siegel of the United States snagboat W.T. PRESTON will retire in February  after forty-two years of steamboating on Puget Sound and its tributaries from Blain to Olympia."
Siegel turned 70 on January 1, 1935. He was the first captain of the W.T. PRESTON and was followed by George Murch.
