The junior class play "Cross My Heart" was performed at the Empire Theatre on April, 30, 1946. This program includes the Stage Crew, Play Cast, and a synopsis. On May 19, 1978, students went to visit Phillip McCracken's art studio on Guemes Island. This may have been as a part of the Cultural Education Program in the Anacortes Schools. Six reports have been kept from that visit. The students commented about his work in wood, bronze, plaster, and paint.

In February 1978 Phyllis Ennes proposed a Title IV-B project at Fidalgo Elementary titled Developing Aesthetic Awareness. The object was to have students become aware of art in its various forms in their community. The eight students who participated were Kelly Kaeding, Nathan Lindberg, Carl Bates, Scarlet Pepper, Shari Cross, David Hughes, Tina Weirauch, and Chris Lofgren. They made at least two field trips; one was taking photos in Anacortes with the guidance of Matt Brown (see 2013.077.017-.028), and the other was a visit to Phil McCracken's studio on Guemes Island (see 2013.077.322.001-.006). .001 - overview of course and request for student nominations .002 - field trip permissio

THE SEATTLE TIMES ran a photo article titled "Birth of a Statue" on Sunday, October 25, 1959. The eight photos document the process of turning a plaster cast into a final concrete finished product. Philip McCracken created the plaster cast which was cast in concrete by Olympian Cast Stone Company of Ballard. The sculpture, "Restless Bird", was placed on the plaza of the Norton Building in Seattle.

The front side of this poster is titled, "A Celebration of Scorpios." The Scorpios were Guy Anderson (1906-1998 Northwest painter), Philip McCracken (born 14 November 1928, Northwest sculptor), and Douglas Burton (born November 12 1929) who was the curator of the Anderson-McCracken Celebration which opened November 1, 2013, at the Burton Gallery at 7th and Commercial. The back of the poster tells the history of Burton Jewelers, particularly the part Doug has played. The three photos show him with his wife Laura, sculptor Philip McCracken, and son Philip.

The Eureka Saloon began in 1893, started by Benjamin Franklin "B. F." McCracken at the NW corner of 4th and Commercial. It apparently ran until c. 1906; no trace of it is found in the 1910 city directory. McCracken, born near Spear, PA, in 1852, died in Anacortes in 1916; he was a highly respected businessman. "In recognition of the loss the city sustains in his passing and as a tribute to his years of public spiritedness, all business houses were closed Tuesday afternoon during the hour of the funeral." To the right of Lance Burdon is an unknown woman, then Lance's sister, Alice Burdon Soule, unknown man, then Lance and Alice's sister, Effie Burdon Gillespie, Theodore Saxrude at far right. Saxrud came to Anacortes in 1888 to make a survey of the railroad from Anacortes to Hamilton; he was the head chainman for the Oregon Improvement Company.
