"Solace" is a compilation of poems, art, and short stories created by Anacortes High School students in Spring 2001. It was edited by Nick "Tex" Strizic and dedicated to Peggy Urstad. Falling Down House - May 2001. Sides of structure are buckling. Tree on side of house is about a foot higher than roof. Note home with new roof in the distance. History: For a period of twenty-five years, from 1977 through 2002, Wallie Valentine Funk [Jr.] photographed an old pioneer house on the north side of 41st Street, just west of its intersection with H Avenue. The structure captivated Funk and he regularly returned to document its deteriorating condition as its roof began to sag, its chimney fell through, and more daylight appeared through its siding with each passing year. At the same time, his images of this building captured the surrounding area as well, as subdivisions began
