View of sidewheeler North Pacific taking on a load of canned salmon at the dock of Fidalgo Island Packing Company. The company began in 1895 at Ship Harbor, present-day (2008) side of the Washington State ferry terminal.

Alaska Packing Company (left), and the Fidalgo Island Packing Company (right) were both located at Ship Harbor, the present site of the Washington State Ferry Dock for the San Juan Islands and Victoria, B.C. (2013). The smokestack and be seen on the right center as well as a piling in the water's edge at FIPC. On hill left of photo (not seen here) is the home of the manager of Alaska Packing and called the Sutter Home, for Carl Sutter and Otto Sutter. At another time period George E. Bower. Manager of Fidalgo Island, at one point in the early 1900s was Mr. Heyseth. This photo was enlarged by Glenn Davis for use in the first museum exhibit at City Hall.
