On June 16, 1949, the ANACORTES AMERICAN published the photos of 11 girls running for Marineers' Pageant Queen, plus a picture of the Pageant president. On July 29, 1948, the ANACORTES AMERICAN published three photos from the Marineers' Pageant, plus an article about the Pageant. The top picture was a float sponsored by Anacortes Veneer Company which was awarded first prize in the commercial division of the parade The middle picture was of the Queen's float. Sally Amerman was Queen, and she had seven princesses in her court. The bottom picture showed the crowds in attendance at the water show which was held at theMarine Stadium (amphitheater) located on Cap Sante. Page two had an article headlined, "Marineer's (sic) Pageant Acclaimed As Greatest Celebration in City History." In two columns it summarized the activities of the 8th a

Reception for Norine Chabai [Baker], Miss Washington of 195?, at home of Dr. Lyle and Doris Packard; the house was demolished December 3, 2012 was on the east side of Cap Sante at the end of 5th Street, on the south side of the street where it meets the water. Miss Chabai had been the Marineers' Pageant queen for the 1949 pageant (see WF 1633-1637), and followed up that success with a run for the Miss Washington title. She is standing with Washington State governor Arthur B. Langley. Men in uniform are from Naval Air Station Whidbey. Also see WF 0327, 0328.

Queen's float in the 1947 Marineers' Pageant parade. Includes princesses Norine Oldow, and Bonita Cross beside Queen Doris Springer, and Joyce Neville, Leona Andrich, and Marilyn Morrison with two page boys at the front of the float.. Parade is on Commercial Avenue; businesses seen are Montgomery Ward catalog office (603 Commercial), Western Union (615 Commercial), Tradewell (619 Commercial) and the Diamond Five Cents to One Dollar Store (607 Commercial).
