Lucius Blackinton's house on Guemes Island. The house was believed to have been built around 1867, but was moved by Lucius Blackinton to make way for Sloan Shipyards during World War I. The cherry tree in the right foreground was "about 40 years old" in 1917. The man in the photograph is identified as Tom March. The woman is Mary Johns Blackinton of the Samish Tribe

Dr. Thomas Bromley Childs, DDS, built this impressive Victorian era Queen Anne style mansion at 1819 8th St. for $4,800 and $2,700 for 4 lots (according to inscription on back of his portrait, D-I-1). Picture taken in Winter as trees are bare. House flanked on left by windmill/pump house.
