D.XV.006 - Harry Causland grave marker

Harry Causland of Guemes Island was killed in France on October 25,1918. Cited for extraordinary heroism, Causland died four months after entering the service, and just days before the Armistice. His last letter, dated October 16, 1918, arrived home after he died. This photo from the Graves Registration Service was taken in a military cemetary in France. A white cross, it is inscribed " 34, Harry L. Causland, Pvt, USA." The plate at the base of the cross has number D31065. His final resting place is in Eden Cemetary on Guemes Island.
