On Thursday, July 16, 1970, the ANACORTES AMERICAN ran a photo and article on Paul and Mary Luvera and their trip to Europe. They spent a month in his native Italy and ten days in Yugoslavia where her parents were born. Additionally, they spent about ten days each in Switzerland, Amsterdam, and London.

PRESTON, which will operate under direction of United States engineers in Seattle, was at the plant of the Lake Union Dry Dock & Machine Works to have equipment installed. The tests were made Friday on the measured nautical mile course near the United States naval air station at Sand Point. Tests were made at various speeds and the operation of machinery was observed.
