Description Group picnic on the "Southside" as the area south of 12th and Commercial was known in the 1890s and early 1900s. The picnic is taking place in the vicinity of 17th. St. & the future location of the Columbia school. There are 4 men & 2 women in the photo. Two of the men are tending to boiling pots on open fires. The men are all dressed in suits & hats and the women have long dresses & hats. There are 2 horses hitched to a wagon & a buggy behind the group and the group is in a wooded area.
