Caption Archibold Macgregor "Mac" Allan
Description Archibold Macgregor Allan (1905-1993) was also known as Mac. He was the owner of two stores named Allan's Market; one was located at 5th and Commercial, and the other at 21st and Commercial. The business began as Anacortes Mercantile Company (AMC), founded by R. L. Bradley. In the spring of 1904, R. L. Bradley purchased the McNaught Building at 8th and I Avenue and moved it to 5th and Commercial. Bradley died in 1927, and Archibold (Archie) Allan (1870-1953) purchased the business and the McNaught Building in 1931. It appears that Mac inherited the two Allan's Market sites at his father's death and ran the one at 21st until 1955 and the one at 5th until at least 1962; it is not listed in the 1975 city directory.
