Caption Mrs. Quint
Description Portrait of Mrs. Jane Quint, John Hart's mother, Albanus D. Quint's wife. Albanus was a veteran of the Civil War. Coming to Washington in 1887, he took up forty acres of land a Deception, a pre-emption claim, and made it his home until 1896. He was offered $10,000 for his property during the boom of Anacortes, but not having proved upon it, could not make the sale. He was appointed postmaster at Fidalgo City, formerly known as Deception,and later Dewey. He married Jane Hart September 19, 1878, daughter of John Cameron. She was first married in Scotland, and there her husband (Hart), died. John Hart, one of her children was a well known businessman of Anacortes. He was in the boat business in Anacortes, and owner of the steamer RUSTLER. He lived at home with his parents and became acting postmaster at Dewey.
