Description Al Derby was the manager of the J. C. Penney store at 6th and Commercial from the mid-1940s to the mid-1950s. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the 1944 Anacortes City Council. His wife's name was Fern. Their son, Don, graduated from Anacortes High School in 1951 and was active in Key Club, Big "A", Red Cross, Pep Club, Annual Staff, drama, band, football, basketball, and baseball.
