|Caption||Train depot, 1890-1911|
This photograph shows the north side of the Anacortes train depot at 6th Street and I Avenue.
On 11-27-1890 the ANACORTES AMERICAN reported this depot was a focal point as the town celebrated establishment of, "Trancontinental connection with Fidalgo Island and city of New York." The first excursion train to arrive in town that day, "passed 10th Street Depot and stopped at foot of Avenue I where Reception Committee awaited its arrival. People left the train cars and formed in columns by fours and took up the line of march. Walked to 10th Street Depot where the second train arrived."
