Caption MOYER, Yukona
Description Yukona Moyer, daughter of Elwood and Katharine Moyer, graduated from Anacortes High School in 1932. She was active in Girls' Athletic Club, Girls' Club, Glee Club, operettas and drama, school government, tennis, and annual staff. Her father, Elwood Moyer, came to Anacortes from Philadelphia on February 9, 1890. He built a building on Commercial which was destroyed by fire in November 1893. The Moyers moved to Alaska where they ran a number of businesses, including a dry goods store, in Fairbanks. The name they gave Yukona reflects their time there. In 1909 the Moyers returned to Anacortes and built a concrete building at 7th and Commercial, now known as the Keystone Building.
