Caption Kiddies' Parade 1949 - Jackie Krebs (bearer)
Description The "Juvenile" or Children's Parade of the Marineers' Pageant was usually held on Friday, separate from the big community parade held on Saturday. By 1949 the name changed to Kiddies' Parade. It had special categories of events: best decorated bicycle, best decorated doll buggy, etc. This image is of three children leading the parade with a sign saying "Kiddies' Parade 1949." The Girl Scout holding the sign is probably Jackie Krebs, and she is flanked by two costumed white rabbits holding carrots. The view looks south on Commercial. The left side of the image shows the "Midway" with amusement rides and games on the 1-2011 site of the Safeway Store.
