Caption KIddie Parade - Girl Scout color guard
Description The "Juvenile" or Children's Parade of the Marineers' Pageant was usually held on Friday, separate from the big community parade held on Saturday. By 1949 the name changed to Kiddies' Parade. It had special categories of events: best decorated bicycle, best decorated doll buggy, etc. This image is of a Girl Scout color guard followed by boys in military cadet-type uniforms. Anacortes had a Girl Scout troop by at least 1921 when the Girl Scout Headquarters was listed in the city directory, "Elizabeth Dwelley, scout master, 906 1/2 6th Street."
