Caption HOGAN, Frank
Description Portrait of Mayor/Capt. Frank V. Hogan in his signature top hat, 3-piece pinstripe suit, and holding his cane. His white shirt has a stand-up collar with front edges folded to showcase the white tie. The accessories he is wearing include his wire-framed glasses, medal of some sort on the lapel of his suit jacket, a tie clip and a watch fob. Mr. Hogan brandishes a white handlebar mustache. He came to Anacortes in the fall of 1889, opened a realty office, Hogan and Hagan real estate, and became the city's first official mayor; George Kyle had been previously elected, but could not take office as the city had problems with their incorporated status. Hogan served three non-consecutive terms as mayor - 1891, 1904, 1915. In 1890 Hogan had a grand home built on the south side of 7th Street between I and J avenues which still stands in 2011. His real estate office was located on 5th Street between O and Commercial. See "Biographies" for more indepth information.
