Caption Kiddie's Parade - Native American theme
Description The "Juvenile" or Children's Parade of the Marineers' Pageant was usually held on Friday, separate from the big community parade held on Saturday. By 1949 the name changed to Kiddies' Parade. It had special categories of events: best decorated bicycle, best decorated doll buggy, etc. This image is of a float with a Native American theme. Boys in Indian apparel pull a float with a young girl and Indian Chief (?) standing behind. This is an excellent view of the west side of Commercial between 10th and 11th. Marquette's Furniture Exchange at 1108 Commercial, Fox Motors Oldsmobile dealership at 1102 Commercial, and the former site of Frank Watkinson's Tire Surgery are seen.
