Caption Fire Engine
Description Pictured is the Anacortes Fire Department's new motorized ladder truck in the doorway of Anacortes Fire Hall; the hall was built in 1891 located at 1107 5th Street, on south side of 5th Street between O Avenue (southwest corner) and N Avenue which also housed the jail and Anacortes City Hall. The side of the engine says "Hose 1". The man sitting to the right of the driver, with a white mustache, appears to be William G. Beard, who had served as Anacortes mayor in 1903. He was elected to City Council in 1908 and died in 1915. The man standing to the left of Beard may have been the current mayor.
