Caption Marineer Pageant
Description Anacortes Veneer float heading north during the Marineer Parade between 7th and 6th. See WF 1517 for another view of this float. Anacortes Veneer Company, a cooperative venture between workers, began at 35th and V Avenue in 1937 and opened in the fall of 1939. Note Carpenter's Hall at far left (614 Commercial) housing Morganthaler's Sunset Florist. Next is Andrews Variety Store, in business here from 1949 to c.1954. A far right is Shannon Building, housing the Mayflower Bakery. The bakery began business c.1937 at 404 Commercial. By 1940 it had moved to 414 Commercial and by 1948 it was housed in the Shannon Building, 604 Commercial; it was gone by the 1954 directory.
