|Description||Albert "Bert" Verrall was born in England in 1891and immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1893. In 1910 he worked at Burke Shingle Mill, and in the 1917 city directory he was listed as a fisherman living with his wife Mary at 717 25th Street; his wife's name was either a mistake or he married more than once, for in subsequent directories it was listed as Mabel. The 1921 directory listed Bert as a shingle packer, and by 1929 he was a vice-president of Mutual Mill Company, a shingle manufacturer. In the 1930s he became a member of the Anacortes Fire Department, and by 1937 he was the assistant chief. By 1948 Bert and Mabel were living at 2033 Commercial, and Bert was the Anacortes Fire Chief in 1950.|
