Caption Pile driver (?)
Description Caption written on front of photo is "Hoyt's Godivel". Men are sitting on contraption that is helping to pull long poles (or pilings) erect, perhaps as part of a pile driving operation. This may have been used for building fish traps (and this was the start of a trap on the shore end) but the poles appear too high. It is unclear what this was used for. It is known that Hegg, a photographer well-known for his photos of the Alaska Gold Rush, photographed fish traps and fishing operations. He was a Bellingham photographer.
