Caption Children's Parade - parasol girl and hula dancer
Description The "Juvenile" or Children's Parade of the Marineers' Pageant was usually held on Friday, separate from the big community parade held on Saturday. It had special categories of events: best decorated bicycle, best decorated doll buggy, etc. Most of these images (WF 1393.001-.023) appear to have been taken at or near where the parade was staged or ended: The Texaco Station on the northeast corner of Commercial and 9th, and the Union Oil Station on the southeast corner of Commercial and 9th. This image is of two girls; one is dressed in an old-fashioned long dress and is carrying a parasol, and the other is dressed as a hula dancer.
