Description Aerial view of Morrison Mill, log booms, industrial north and east of Fidalgo Island, Cap Sante Boat Basin and Cap Sante. Top of photo has the Anacortes Lumber & Box Co. smokestack with smoke coming out. AL&B burned in 1941 which dates this photos as before 1941. The Shell Oil tanks can be seen at center left. They are listed in the 1937 Polk's Directory but not in the 1929 directory. The streets from top left begin at the Guemes Channel and run to 21st Street; then to 22nd and Fidalgo Bay and back north to the Guemes Channel including Cap Sante. The construction of Safeway at 10th and Commercial began in February and opened on Dec 10,1942, which not in this photograph, again dating the photo before the burning of AL&B Co. in 1941. On another copy of this photo (not from the Wallie Funk Collection) in the lower right corner is the number 2134.
