5-ton basking shark Bill Lowman caught in his net aboard the ZIG ZAG, and had to tow it back to town. It is hanging from a crane. Tuck Davis (crane operator) had to leap from the cab of the crane attempting to raise the shark. The weight of the huge fish tipped the crane, causing it to teeter periously on the dock and for one moment appearedto be heading for a plunge with Davis aboard, into the Guemes Channel. Davis quickly released the lines holding the shark in suspension, thus avoiding a possible tragic aftermath to the netting of the fish by Anacortes gilnetter Bill Lowman. ...
