Catalog Number WF 0047
Description Skagit County Democratic Convention, held in Anacortes at the Taylor Hotel on 10-1-1890. On 10-2-1890 the ANACORTES AMERICAN reported, "Democrats Hold a Convention and Name a Ticket, Democrats of Skagit County assembled in Taylor's Hall at 10:30 yesterday." This is one of the earliest known photos of Taylor Hotel. Note that addition has not yet been added on hotel's western side at which time the window/doorway arrangement at the southeast corner of the building was remodeled. Democratic Convention held at the Taylor one week after the Republican Convention. [see also p. 149 CHECHACOS ALL.] That convention, held September 20, 1890, was reported by the ANACORTES AMERICAN on 9-25-1890, "The Convention, Republican Standard Bearers. Republican's county convention convened consisting of 179 delegates from 24 precincts in Skagit County assembled in Captain Taylor's hall at 1st and P." See also WF 0063.
