Caption "Hudson-Essex" sea sled
Description This boat, named the HUDSON-ESSEX was first reported in the 3-25-1926 ANACORTES AMERICAN as, "Sea sled HUDSON-ESSEX Is Unique Type of Boat." Upon launching the following Sunday, it achieved 35 miles per hour. When this image was taken, a new Hudson super-six motor had been added, bringing the speed up to 50 miles per hour. The boat was built by William Maris of MacCallum Motor Company. He was listed as living at 1020 11th Street in the 1927 city directory. The company was not found in either the 1921 or 1927 city directories. The 8-6-1925 paper reported, "MacCallum Motor Company remodels building and enlarges quarters." This postcard image caption reads, "Anacortes sea sled making 50 miles per."
