Caption Funk Lake Campbell home
Description Located on the SE corner of Lake Campbell, this was Wallie V. Funk's [Jr] childhood home starting in the summer of 1931 after his parents lost their Anacortes home during the Great Depression and moved to this old farmhouse owned by Valentine and Barbara Funk. Wallie Funk [Jr] lived here until he left home for college; his parents continued to live here until his father's death in 1955. His mother, Irene, lived here for a few more years until moving into a small house on Cap Sante in Anacortes. This house is perhaps the second home on the north side of Mountain View Lane after one turns off of Highway 20 to the south shore of Lake Campbell. It still stands today [12-2003]. In April 2002, Teresa Trebon took Wallie Funk on a driving tour of the Lake Campbell area to map out familiar landmarks in his life. A map of that tour is included in the file, and it clearly shows where this house was located.
