Caption neighborhood tea party
Description Photo caption reads "tea party at an antique shop between 21st and 22nd and Commercial." Photo was taken next to Schwartz Novelty Store at 2114 Commercial; see photo of store, WF 0130. The Image shows a group of 11 women standing outside the shop; all lived in the vicinity to 22nd and Commercial. This was perhaps a neighborhood women's group. See WF 0794 for another example of this. Stella Schwartz holds the cake; she and her husband Chris ran Schwartz Novelty. Other women in the photo include: Anna Rydberg (909 23rd), mother of Berent, Fritz, Anna, etc.; Mary Shumway (1010 22nd); Tillie Hartman (1007 23rd), clerk at Archie Allan's grocery store; Rhoda Anderson (1018 28th); Delores Gugleman; Goldie Haynes, who with her husband William lived on the corner of 22nd and Commercial where William ran a garage; Althea Proud (1011 27th) appears to be the woman looking out of the window, wife of David. Other women were "Johnsons from neighborhood."
