Caption Weaverling home
Description The Weaverling farm was located just west of Weaverling's Spit on Fidalgo Bay. James and Frances Weaverling came to Fidalgo Island in the late 1870s. They filed on their claim in 1887. The 1880 U.S. Census shows the following: Weaverling, James, 64, farmer, born in PA; Weaverling, Frances, 50, keeps house, born in VT; the Weaverling children - Charles, 21, farm laborer, born in IL; Myra, 14, born in IL; May, 14, born in IL; Liberty, 12, born in MO; Ida, 10, born in MO. Based on the 1892 U. S. Census information, this photo probably shows Frances Weaverling (far right on porch) with her son Charles in front with horse. Charles's wife Nancy, and two children, Earl (on hobby horse) and Charles, may be the other people in image.
