|Description||Portrait of Mary A. Thomson who leased and operated several hotels in Anacortes during the late-1880s and early 1890s. The 1-14-1899, ANACORTES AMERICAN advertised, "Vendome Hotel, Mrs. M. A. Thomson, proprietress." By 1901, Thomson was leasing the hotel in the Wilson Building at 8th and Commercial and had renamed it "Hotel Thomson." See WF 0832 for a view of Hotel Thomson with the name by the center front door. The 1902 city directory listed the hotel under that name but Thomson only owned it through June 1902. The 11-2-1902, ANACORTES AMERICAN reported that the hotel had a new owner, C. E. Hackett, and that it was to "resume its former name, the Hotel Wilson." The May 1904 paper reported that Thomson was, once again, leasing the Vendome Hotel. She is not listed in the 1905 or subsequent city directories. She may have also been involved with the Taylor Hotel. See WF 0815 for her picture in a theatrical presentation of "Dusenbury Family."|
