Men and boys and large halibut on Ocean Dock at foot of Commercial. At right is the Oregon Improvement Company warehouse and the North Western Express Company office.
July 1890 ANACORTES AMERICAN read: "FISHING OFF THE DOCK A number of people are now enjoying good fishing off the Ocean Dock and frequently a good catch is made. Yesterday afternoon Luke Marshall was the lucky fisherman, and caught a halibut weighing 118 1/2 pounds which is the largest fish thus far caught from the dock. After being brought ashore the halibut was photographed by Booen & Ewing. A halibut weighing 118 1/2 pounds brings several dollars at the market, and catching one is a paying day's work."
