Caption COOK, Dr. Arthur B.
Description Dr. Arthur B. Cook. This image was taken in his home at 702 O Avenue. Like many doctors from his youth, Cook practiced from his house. Cook (1872-1965) took his medical degree from Illinois Medical College in 1902. He practiced in Caldwell, WA, (near Spokane) for ten years and, in 1911, married his wife Lillian. They moved to Anacortes in 1913 where Cook practiced until he retired in 1960. The 9-11-1952 Anacortes American reported on Cook's anniversary of 50 years of practicing in Anacortes; he spent two years of that time as company doctor for Wakefield Fisheries in Alaska, 1919-1921. Cook's office was housed alongside his home at 1003 7th. From 1914-1918 Cook served as mayor of Anacortes. Lillian Cook died in 1960. Both are buried at Grandview Cemetery in Anacortes.
