Description Commercial Avenue and 7th Street. View looks north on Commercial Avenue from 7th Street. At right, foreground, the sign for the Empire Cafe at the southeast corner of 7th Street and Commercial is visible. Keystone Building at the northeast corner of 7th and Commercial [built 1910] is shown with Tradewell Store in the bottom storefront [store began business in 1940]. Western Union Telegraph in the ground floor of the Keystone Building may be seen [moved into Keystone Building by 1927 from elsewhere on Commercial]. North of the Keystone Building is the Brooks Building, home of J. C. Penney Co. McNaught Building is visible at the northeast corner of 5th and Commercial. On the left side of the photograph, the Empire Theater Building is visible at the northwest corner of 7th and Commercial; law office of Ben Driftmier may be seen on the second floor [Empire Theater was built in 1913]. Two-story Shannon Building may be seen on the southwest corner of 6th and Commercial; across the street, the Pioneer Building is seen on the northwest corner of 6th and Commercial; its second story has been removed. Further north, the Goodwin-Benedict-Havekost Building may be seen on the west side of Commercial; note that its brick facade has been cemented over. Note cars and street lights.
