Caption PACKARD, Doris and Lyle
Description Dr. Lyle Packard, Anacortes dentist, was a 1914 graduate of Bellingham's Whatcom High School. The 1927 city directory listed him in the Blackmore (Hensler) Building at the southwest corner of 7th and Commercial. In the mid-1940s he moved his office to the Empire Building (Medical-Dental) at 5th and Commercial (418 Commercial Avenue) and practiced there until he retired in 1981. In 1927 he married Doris Elizabeth Bryson, and their stately home on the east side of Cap Sante was a center of Anacortes social events. Doris was extremely active in contributing her time for the betterment of the community, from supporting the Marineer Pageant to raising money for the local Orthopedic Guild. Dr. Packard was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf.
