Catalog Number WF 0254
Description View looks toward NW corner of 12th Street and Commercial. Midway Barber Shop is in first building at left; note the barber pole. The next building appears to be empty; it once housed Ed Rogers Shoe Repair Shop from c. 1914-1918.The building with the false-front roofline is an automobile service business. As early as 1914 this structure served as an automobile garage; at that time Mitchell Auto occupied this spot, run by B. E. Trafton. By 1917 Trafton and Sons Autos was located here (1102 Commercial). In the 1948 City Directory it was listed as Anacortes Motors, and in 1954 it was listed as Fox Motors Oldsmobile. Note the streetlights and automobiles. See WF 0257 and 0261.023 for earlier and later views of this same block in 1914 and the mid-1930s.
