Caption Edwin Luther Rowland
Description Portrait of Edwin Luther Rowland, proudly showing his police badge. He was son of Mary and Isaac Rowland, and brother of Cora Rowland Allmond. The 1902 and 1905 city directories listed Rowland as the city marshal and living on 7th Street between Commercial Avenue and Q Avenue. As well as police work, he was also listed as partners with John Millet in the Anacortes Livery Stable on the south side of 5th Street between Commercial and Q Avenues. See WF 0984 for a photo of the livery. Prior to coming to Anacortes, the Rowland family settled in the pioneer town of Lewisville, a settlement north of Battle Ground, WA, that no longer exists. See WF 0081, 0829, and 0830 for more information on the Rowland family; see WF 0973 and WF 1171 for more information on Cora Allmond.
