Caption SHANNON, Tom
Description Tom Shannon was probably related to the Shannon family of Anacortes. The family patriarch,
George W. Shannon, opened Shannon Hardware in 1891 in the McNaught Building at 8th and I Avenue. In March 1899 he built the Shannon Building on the southwest corner of 6th and P/Commercial and relocated his business there. George W.'s descendents operated the store until c. 1937. One of his sons, Thomas, lived with his wife Alice and their family at 303 7th Street, according to the 1937 city directory. It is possible that Tom Shannon, pictured, was their son.
