|Description||Photo is a part of a series taken by "Bower and Brady." This view was taken slightly south of WF 1242 and shows the "South Side" district of Anacortes, that area of Anacortes bordering the western edge of Fidalgo Bay. Intersection of 8th Street and N Avenue is visible at the lower right corner of image. To the left, at the corner of 8th and M Avenue is the Carnegie Library [in 2011 home of the Anacortes Museum]. Further left, at the corner of 8th and N, is the newly created Causland Park. At the lower left corner of 6th Street between O and N Avenue, [under the word "Anacortes"]is the I.O.O.F. Hall and Opera House (built in 1901). At the far left edge of this photograph, the Keystone Building is visible as are other buildings on Commercial Avenue such as the Wilson Hotel building. Good view of Morrison Mill on Fidalgo Bay, as well as residential district south of downtown. Note the trestle across Fidalgo Bay and the bay's extension to present day Commercial Avenue. This image is labeled on the front of the postcard, "Anacortes, Wash. Residence District, Bower and Brady, #103."|
