|Caption||Marine Hardware window display|
|Description||Window display at Marine Hardware and Supply on the southwest corner of Commercial and 2nd. The display commemorates the visit of the U.S.S. CONSTITUTION to Anacortes in July 1933. Note the models of the ship under the flag at center of the photo, and also on the bottom of the case at left. The 7-27-1933 ANACORTES AMERICAN reported on this window display and noted it was attracting much attention. Marine Hardware and Supply was begun by Efthimios "Mike" Demopoulos in 1913 in the Anchorage Building, which was constructed in 1906 on this same corner. He started the business as the Anacortes Junk Co., and by 1927 he had opened this business. See also WF 1831, 3716.|
