Caption RUMSEY, Lorene
Description Lorene Rumsey graduated from Anacortes High School in 1941 where she was active in Girls' Club, operetta, choir, and drill team. Her parents were apparently James and Nellie Rumsey who lived at 2001 11th Street. She was possibly the sister of Gladys. James Rumsey ran a wood business in Anacortes. The 1921 city directory advertised, "Rumsey, J. L. Wood delivery. Dealers in light and heavy wood, prompt delivery to any part of the city." The family lived at 1420 10th Street in 1921, and by 1929 had moved the 11th Street address. In the 1948 directory James was a millworker at Coos Bay Pulp. There is a letter in this file from Lorene Rumsey to Ferd Brady. She apparently married Blain Howell shortly after her high school graduation and moved to Sequim, Washington. The letter ordering more prints from Brady is the only correspondence of this kind found in the Brady collection.
