Caption Christenson home
Description View of Antone and Alice White Christenson home on north side of Lake Campbell. Alice White was raised by a childless couple, Samuel and Eliza Best, on the north side of Lake Campbell. Her parents, Robert and Charlotte White, were early settlers of the LaConner area, farming there by 1870. Robert White died in 1882, leaving Charlotte with five children to raise; Alice subsequently went to live with the Bests until her marriage to Antone Christenson in 1895. See other photos of Alice with the Bests, WF 0026, 0027. They lived nearby, possibly next door, to the Bests; see 5-21-1942, ANACORTES AMERICAN Pioneer column. The 6-8-1905, ANACORTES AMERICAN reported, "Antone Christenson, the popular farmer of Lake Campbell, reports all crops as growing nicely in his neighborhood."
