Women and children enjoy the beach at Rose Point on the Guemes Channel, located at the foot of T Avenue. Catherine Matheson Gilbert, born c. 1895, is sitting on the rock in the water at far left. She was the daughter of Captain John and Josephine Matheson. John Matheson pioneered the Anacortes codfish industry; see WF 0390. The girl in the bow of the boat is the Matheson's daughter Flora, born c. 1891. Members of the Quinby family are also in the photo. Frank Quinby, Sr., was an Anacortes attorney in partnership with W.V. Wells; see WF 0756. Frank Quinby, Jr., is in the this photo with his mother. In a 6-11-1957 ANACORTES AMERICAN article, he was photographed by Wallie V.
