|Description||The George B. and Elsie Shannon family is shown at home at 417 2nd St. George is seated with their son George David "Dave" Shannon on his lap. Elsie Viola Fuller Leatherwood Shannon is at a table with an Anacortes Mercury newspaper, and Elsie's son Robert "Bob" Leatherwood, wearing an AHS letter jacket, is seated at a desk in the background. The family patriarch, George W. Shannon, opened Shannon Hardware in 1891 in the McNaught Building at 8th and I Avenue. In March 1899 he built the Shannon Building on the southwest corner of 6th and P/Commercial and relocated his business there. George B. and Elsie still lived in this location in 1934; by 1937 they were living in Mount Vernon. The familly was identified by Bob's daughter Patty Leatherwood McClane.|
